Happy Sunday! Snooker returned to Sheffield's Crucible Theatre this weekend! The 2021 World Snooker championship started yesterday, Saturday 17 April in Sheffield and the finals to decide the World Snooker champion 2021 will be on 3 May 2021 (Bank Holiday Monday) . It is anticipated that the 3rd May finals will have the largest number of spectators at an event since the start of Lockdown 3 in January this year. Because the Crucible Theatre is part of UK Government's Event Research Programme (ERP), this year's world snooker championship will contribute also to the collection of essential evidence to inform the government's decision around Step 4 of the roadmap to lift lockdown. A statement on the Crucible Theatre's website indicates that the research will also “....support the phased return of fuller audiences to venues and events up and down England.” Here's the link to website of the Crucible Theater in Sheffield: https://bit.ly/3ghYgRw You'll see there is a note of caution to people who are in the Clinically Extremely Vulnerable groupings, and therefore at higher risk in indoor events. Sheffield and Snooker, simply super!
